Even as Miami-Dade County makes moves to enhance social distancing, it’s largely business as usual in another popular Florida spot: the Florida Keys. Despite having guidelines in place to address COVID-19, just about all of the dining establishments and attractions continue to welcome those looking to take a load off.
In the Upper Keys, for example, John Pennekamp State Park remains a family-friendly spot for those that want to enjoy the great outdoors. Comprised of more than 65 nautical miles featuring coral reefs and beds of seagrass, it’s something of a snorkeling and scuba diving paradise. Canoeing and kayaking are a few additional activities.
Dolphin Research Center in the Middle Keys is perfect for anyone who wants to get up close with these intelligent sea dwellers. Guests can swim alongside dolphins and there are plenty of interactive programs. The facility is currently operating at fifty percent capacity so make sure to reserve a spot online before visiting.
If you’re willing to make the trip to Key West, there are plenty of sights to explore such as the home of the late author Ernest Hemingway one of the tours exploring the classic sights in Key West. Masks and social distancing are required during these tours.
